Cocktail Recipe: The Kneecap Night Cap — 10-Minute Happy Hour

Pin_it_button

Everyone has their take on what a nightcap should be. Some even say it should always be brown — that's right, they say your G&T is better off as an aperitif than your last sip of the evening. (That being said, a nightcap is much different than last call!)

For this week's happy hour, a simple combination of two delicious ingredients will have you pouring the perfect nightcap in no time.

For me the perfect nightcap requires little effort with much reward. It should be sip-able and soothing. I crave nightcaps that warm me to the core, though not necessarily because they're served hot. While a hot toddy is a lovely tipple before retiring to bed, nightcaps like this Kneecap get the job done just as well.

The Kneecap cocktail is said to have been a favorite of 1930s and '40s actor and director, Eddie Buzzell. He said, "Two of 'em and you walked home on your knees."

The Kneecap

Serves 1

1 1/2 ounces Bourbon
1 1/2 ounces Ruby Port

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice combine the bourbon and ruby port. Shake until well chilled and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Enjoy.
