Well hello there! Today, I am super excited to review a great new product from Ball. Have you heard of their FreshTECH Automatic Jam & Jelly Maker yet? If not, you're in for a treat, because this nifty appliance makes it easier than ever to get started on your canning adventure.
The Automatic Jam & Jelly Maker whips up a batch of jam in less than half an hour – and, there's no need to stand over a bubbling pot, because the Jam & Jelly Maker also stirs your jam as it cooks. Just pour in your pectin and crushed fruit, push the button, and go! After a couple of minutes of stirring to ensure that the pectin dissolves completely in the crushed fruit, the Jam & Jelly Maker will beep to tell you it's time to put in the sugar. After you do so, simply let the jam-making continue while you go about other tasks. I don't know about you, but I'm all about having some extra time on my hands.
The Jam & Jelly Maker will cook your soft spread to the proper temperature necessary to create a gel - although, if you want a thicker or thinner set, you can always increase or decrease the cooking time in one minute increments by using the + / - buttons. I love this particular feature, because I tend to like my jams on the soft side – perfect for slathering on scones, and especially in the summer, as a topping for ice cream.
When your preserves are ready, the Jam & Jelly Maker will beep to let you know. Then, you can store your jam any way you like – preserve it by canning, store it in the freezer, or just pour it into a jar and store it in the refrigerator to use over the next couple of weeks. Cleanup is a breeze as well, because the interior of the pot is nonstick. I didn't even have to scrub at all; I just rinsed out the pot with warm water and the jam came right off. Ready to get started with canning? Then this Jam & Jelly Maker is the thing for you!
