Citrus sugar is incredibly easy to make and can add that extra special touch to a lot of recipes. It is also a great way to use up any extra citrus you may have laying around. Maybe you juiced a whole lot of lemons for a batch of homemade lemonade, why waste the zest? Turn that extra citrus zest into citrus sugar instead. There are a few ways to make citrus sugar, but I'm going to share with you my favorite quickest method.
How to Make Citrus Sugar
Citrus Sugar Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- lemon zest, from one lemon, 2 limes, or 1/2 a grapefruit
Directions
- Place the sugar and the zest into a food processor and pulse until fully incorporated.
Notes
- Using a food processor quickly releases all of the citrus oils into the sugar. It is ready to use right away but the flavor will pick up a little if you store it in an airtight container over night.
