Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Banana Bread

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Banana Bread Photo

Your new favorite bread. Everyone loves banana bread, but this is banana bread taken to a whole new level. I've made chocolate banana bread, and I've made peanut butter banana bread, but I've never made chocolate + peanut butter + banana, all in a single recipe.

Of course, a quick internet search told me that this was not an original idea, and that makes sense because it's a GREAT idea, so someone before me would've had it too. If one is looking to elevate classic banana bread into something over-the-top, then Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Banana Bread is a natural progression. The flavors all go together so nicely.

Even though someone else did this first (probably lots of people, if I'm being realistic), it doesn't mean we can't still keep tweaking the idea though. I adapted this version from another source, and I loved how perfectly balanced the three main flavors were in the original recipe. Everything was very equal, and nothing really overtook anything else for front-and-center. Equal parts chocolate, peanut butter, and banana. It was lovely.

For myself, being a peanut butter fanatic, I nevertheless wanted to tweak the recipe to see how much more of the nutty stuff I could squeeze into it. It's what I do. Take perfectly good recipes and trash them up with excessive amounts of peanut butter. Would you have it any different? I'm not asking you, Aunt Sandie! Side note: how am I related to someone who hates peanut butter??

Anyway, what I love about this bread is that it's full of flavor. It contains three mashed bananas, a heap of cocoa powder, and an even bigger heap of peanut butter. It's also jammed with chocolate chips and peanut butter chips, in case you still didn't have your fix. Plus more on top for drizzle.. you know, for looks.

Amazingly, it's not too sweet. It's still a bread. It's sweet, but it's not dessert. It's not cake masquerading as bread. It's bread. It's rich, moist, and hearty. And it comes together easily, like most quick breads! It's perfect for breakfast or brunch, and well, you could have it for dessert, but it's really a great snack.
