All you need is bratwurst, beer and an onion. Growing up in the Midwest, this recipe is a staple for football viewing. I am from just north of Chicago, and just south of the Wisconsin border. Milwaukee's finest PBR seemed like the right choice for this recipe!
Start by boiling the bratwurst in beer. I found that about 4 cans was enough for a 19 ounce package of bratwurst. Pick your favorite, because the flavor of the beer will infuse its way into the sausages!
I like to add an onion in the saucepan as well for additional flavor. Boil for 15-20 minutes, until the sausages are cooked through.
Next, finish off the bratwurst on the grill, about 5 minutes on each side.
Serve inside warm buns with a generous ribbon of mustard on top!
