Biscuits, in my mind, are an essential food. It's not just that I live in Texas, though it might help fuel my adoration. (If you can't make a biscuit down here, Heaven help you.) It's that they are ridiculously easy to make and can please anyone by simply having a wide variety of toppings at the ready.
And that flaky, tender first bite right after they come out of the oven? I don't care who you are, a good biscuit can melt anyone.
Now, these biscuits might sound a little fancy for the average person, but I promise you they're totally accessible. The lavender lightly scents the biscuit, not make it a mouthful of flower (and flour). Paired with strawberry jam, it's a beautiful snack that works for a simple afternoon tea or a fancy brunch with people you're trying to impress.
To make these you'll need lavender sugar, but it's really easy to make if you don't have a ready-made version available. Culinary lavender can be purchased at bulk spice stores or even Williams-Sonoma. Most culinary lavender is made from English lavender, which has a light smell and is not bitter when compared with other lavenders.
To make the lavender sugar, all you need to do is blend some lavender buds with sugar, adjusting the amount of lavender to your preference. You only need a small amount for this recipe, but the sugar will last a long time, and any extra can also be packaged for gift-giving.
