Double Chocolate Peppermint Dip

Double Chocolate Peppermint Dip Photo

Happy Holidays to all you Chocolate Fanatics out there! I love this time of the year. I get to indulge in my favourite thing in the world and it's readily available everywhere you look.

Christmas is the time of the year where you can find great chocolate treats you may not see other times of the year. That makes me immensely happy. I love hitting the stores to see what's available. Then I proceed to buy out the store. It's what I do.

During the holiday season we like to have lots of easy snacks on hand. People are always popping by so I want to keep my fridge stocked with ingredients that can be whipped into something sweet quickly and easily. I always have cream cheese on hand. You can whip up no bake cheesecakes or dips really fast.

This dip is a riff on one I make all the time. We love sweet dips. In the summer I make them often so we can dip fresh fruit in it. In the winter we tend to dip cookies and pretzels in it. This one is perfect for pretzels. You've got white chocolate, milk chocolate, crushed peppermint and pretzels. The combination of sweet and salty is out of this world.

If you have extra time you can dip the pretzels in chocolate for an added level of business. I do that quite often if I have extra time. Just lay the pretzels on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, then drizzle each colour over top. Give them about 20 to 30 minutes for the chocolate to set up and you're good to go. You can also pop them in the fridge or freezer to speed up the process.

I did not coat my pretzels this time around. I was baking up a storm the day I made this so I had limited space on my counters. I have a pretty small kitchen so my counter space is quite limited. One day I would love to have an island in my kitchen. I feel like considering what I do for a living having an island would make my life so much easier. For now I just get super creative where I place things.

On a good day things go smoothly, on a not so good day things end up on the floor. Let's just say I keep a Swiffer Wet-Jet in my kitchen at all times.

Hope you get a chance to try this one. It's a family favourite. Once I start eating this I cannot stop. So you've been forewarned. Get into some stretchy pants before you indulge. You can thank me for that later.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces white chocolate
  • 6 ounces milk chocolate
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 8 ounces marshmallow fluff
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint
For Dipping:
  • pretzels
  • cookies

Directions

  1. Fill two small saucepans with about 2 to 3 inches of water, then turn heat on about medium until it boils a bit. Reduce heat to a low. Place a heat proof bowl over each one. In one bowl place the white chocolate, in the other place the milk chocolate. Allow them to melt completely until really smooth. Remove and allow to cool quite a bit.
  2. While the chocolate cools, place the cream cheese in a stand mixer. Whip it until it's smooth and creamy. Add the marshmallow fluff, whip again until smooth.
  3. Divide the mixture evenly into two separate bowls. In one add the white chocolate. Mix by hand until it's combined and smooth. Now add the milk chocolate to the other bowl, mix by hand until it's combined and smooth.
  4. Toss a little crushed peppermint in each dish if you like. If you want it smooth you can skip this step. Personal choice.
  5. Spoon layers of each one into serving dishes, you can do it pretty or haphazardly, both ways will look awesome. You can use a knife to marble them if you like. Whatever floats your boat.
  6. Top each dish with crushed peppermint.
  7. Serve with pretzels and a big old peppermint loving smile!
