Ingredients - 1 box White Cake Mix, or vanilla cake mix
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
- 3 Eggs
- 1 1/2 cups Creamy Peanut Butter
- 1 8 ounce package Cream Cheese, softened
- 2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 3 8-ounce containers Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
Directions - In a large bowl, whisk together cake mix, water, oil, and eggs, until mixture is just smooth.
- Pour batter into a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes, or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, beat peanut butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and two containers whipped topping, until smooth and creamy.
- To assemble trifle:
- Roughly chop or break apart the cake into 1-inch cubes or bite-sized pieces.
- Scatter 1/3 of the cake pieces into the bottom of a large trifle dish.
- Spoon half the peanut butter mixture over the cake in the trifle dish.
- Scatter another 1/3 of the cake pieces over the peanut butter layer.
- Spread with the remaining container of whipped topping.
- Scatter the remaining cake pieces over the whipped topping layer.
- Spoon remaining peanut butter mixture into the trifle dish.
- Sprinkle with cake crumbs or graham cracker crumbs, for garnish, if desired.
